My future career plan

Lately, I have been thinking seriously about the direction of my future career, and I feel more certain than ever about the path I want to take. My goal is to pursue a PhD and use that experience as a foundation to become an animation director. This plan may sound ambitious, but it feels like the most authentic choice for me after everything I have experienced so far.

Before starting my graduate studies, I worked as a concept artist in the game and animation industry, and although the job provided stability, it often left me frustrated. I was frequently asked to follow ideas and visual styles that I did not believe in. Instead of expressing creativity, I felt like I was simply executing someone else’s vision. Over time, this created a sense of helplessness and even doubt about my abilities. I realized that the issue was not my lack of passion, but my lack of authority and space to develop my own artistic voice.

This is why pursuing a PhD feels meaningful. I am not only seeking a degree, but also an environment where experimentation, research, and originality are encouraged. Universities offer valuable resources—mentorship, advanced equipment, and the freedom to explore ideas without commercial pressure. I believe that through long-term study, I can deepen my understanding of storytelling, visual language, and the theory behind animation. More importantly, I hope to gain the confidence and independence to shape my own creative style.

Becoming an animation director is not just a career label to me; it represents the ability to lead a project from concept to completion while staying true to my artistic beliefs. I know the journey will require patience and resilience, but this time, I am motivated not by external expectations, but by the desire to create work that feels honest and meaningful. For the first time, my future feels like something I can design myself.
